The Cambra del Llibre de Catalunya, an institution that brings together the guilds and associations of publishers, booksellers, distributors and graphic communication of Catalonia, foresees a very participatory St. George’s Day since the day can be celebrated without restrictions. In addition, many towns in Catalonia have opted for an organizational model that facilitates the celebration of the party with its own wide designated spaces for book and rose professionals.

In the case of the city of Barcelona, both goals of having its own spaces for book and rose professionals and to favour as much as possible the multiplicity of spaces so that the maximum number of people has a core of activity as close as possible are consolidated. In addition, the Cambra del Llibre and the Barcelona City Council have agreed that all bookstores in the city can have a stand on the street, in front of their establishment, on Friday 22 and Saturday 23 of April, in order to maximise the decongestion of locations and to facilitate the access.

The 12 locations for professionals in the city, divided into 7 districts, are as follows:

Eixample: the great novelty is to have the entire Passeig de Gràcia, from Gran Via to Diagonal, with several crossings that will connect Passeig de Gràcia with Rambla de Catalunya, in an area free from traffic in almost all its perimeter. The aim is to facilitate the movement of people, creating internal circuits between the streets while creating safer spaces.

In addition, there will be another of these locations at the University and at Passeig de Sant Joan, which is being reopened after two years closed, for comics, graphic novels, children’s and young adult’s literature and family audiences.

Ciutat Vella: after last year’s experience, they are once again betting on Plaça Reial and Passeig de Lluís Companys, which will link with Passeig de Sant Joan. There will also be some stands on Las Ramblas for professionals in the district only.

Gràcia: Plaça de la Vila and Plaça Salmerón.

Les Corts: Diagonal with Plaça Valdívia.

Poble Nou: Rambla.

Sant Andreu: Plaça d’Orfila.

Sarrià: Plaça de Sarrià.

In total, in the city of Barcelona, there will be almost 300 professional stands in the designated locations, 170 of which will host book signatures with authors, and 103 will be in front of their bookshops.
