Barcelona libraries talk to James Ellroy

The author will talk to Antonio Lozano about his latest novel, 'Pánico', on May 3 at the Biblioteca Jaume Fuster.

Luxury guest at the Biblioteca Jaume Fuster on May 3 at 6:30 p.m., as part of the “Parlem amb…” program. The guest author will be writer from Los Angeles James Ellroy, who will talk to fellow writer Antonio Lozano. They will talk about Ellroy’s new novel, Pánico (Literatura Random House), starring a real character, Freddy Otash, a tyrant who, during the 1950s, blackmailed the entire film industry. With humor, mystery and traces of madness bordering on the absurd, Ellroy develops Otash’s life, which he described as “the tyrant who held Hollywood hostage.”

After years of crime, alcohol and drugs, James Ellroy decided to rebuild his life and portray the darkness of the underworld in his novels. His best-known works include The Black Dahlia and L.A. Confidential, successfully adapted on the big screen, which together with The Big Nowhere and White Jazz form the L.A. Quartet, a tetralogy that has become a classic of the twentieth century novel. In 2018, James Ellroy was awarded the Pepe Carvalho Prize for all his work.

Admission to the event is free. More information here.
