Books. Over the course of a year, the author travelled across this green territory using different modes of transport: bicycle, public transport, motorcycle... and above all, walking.

Barcelona City Council has published Estimada Collserola, by urban sketch artist Raúl Deamo, an account of a journey across one of the mountain ranges in the Catalan Coastal Range, which also presents the architecture from various periods, a land of opportunities and a paradise on our doorstep, with agriculture and farming.

Over the course of a year, the author travelled across this green territory using different modes of transport: bicycle, public transport, motorcycle… and above all, walking. He walked along its paths and tracks and wandered through its forests, to arrive at hilly landscapes, swamps, vegetable gardens, farm houses, hermitages and stunning natural beauty spots.

The sketch artist also found some unexpected places and hidden secrets. Always with a notebook and drawing instruments to hand so as to capture the places, the moments and the people that inhabit, work or come to enjoy the Collserola: a mountain range that, according to Raúl Deamo, is worth rediscovering because, at least for him, it never ceases to surprise and the more you get to know it, the more you love it.

Carnet de Voyage

Estimada Collserola forms part of the Barcelona «Carnet de Voyage» collection, a series of books that recover the neighbourhoods and hidden corners of our city through a series of personal sketches by our most important illustrators. Their illustrations introduce us, in a sensitive and personal way, to our imaginary and, offer us the chance to delve deeper into the neighbourhoods that form part of our heritage.

The «carnets» are a new way of presenting the neighbourhoods to city residents. They enable us to discover streets, squares, people and places in our local area and, in this way, they reclaim the identity of our city’s neighbourhoods.
