1909: fotografia, ciutat i conflicte
The exposition is a photographic journey through Barcelona which portrays the urban landscape and its social classes during the first quarter of the 20th century. This was the period in which the Lliga Regionalista (Regionalist League) was founded (1901), the party that presided over Barcelona Provincial Council (1907-1924) and the Commonwealth of Catalonia (1913-1924). Nearly all the photographs exhibited appeared in different published materials, in both periodicals (Editorial López) and as postcards and stereoscopic pictures (Editorial Martín), and thus provide a visual inventory of aspects of the Catalan capital that demonstrate its potential and modernity.
