A propòsit de l'11 de setembre

13 June - 18 October 2014

The exhibition takes the Diada, the 'National Day of Catalonia', as its focal point. Comprised of photographs preserved in the Arxiu Fotogràfic de Barcelona, takes visitors on a chronological, photographic journey that begins with the Tancament de Caixes protest (1899) and ends with the Via Catalana demonstration for independence (2013). The photographic documents on display, as a whole, represent the evolution of Catalan nationalist demonstrations, but also illustrate the changes in photographic rhetoric which, in the end, is the factor that gives documentary status to a photograph.
