Since the first “Impulsem el que fas” call for applications, a total of 963 projects have been funded, with a combined investment of €19 million. This year, grants will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis, provided that the applications meet the criteria set out in the call guidelines.

Grant applications must be submitted via the Barcelona Activa website, after an initial application has been submitted to the Virtual Procedures Office. Applications will be accepted from September until 15 October or until the budget is exhausted.

Six categories in this year’s call

The “Impulsem el que fas” grants comprise six categories linked to strategic economic challenges and sectors. The main category in terms of budget allocation (€1 million) is “Amunt persianes” [Get those shutters up], which aims to create new businesses in ground-floor premises and this year also promotes the opening of market stalls.

The other categories will co-finance activities related to socioeconomic innovation and the social and solidarity economy; the promotion of quality employment through labour market initiatives, intermediation and the fight against job insecurity in districts below the average income level (Nou Barris, Sant Andreu, Sant Martí, Ciutat Vella, Sants-Montjuïc and Horta-Guinardó); support for projects that promote the territorial dispersion of tourism and help reduce tourist pressure in Barcelona’s most visited areas; actions for sustainable food and responsible consumption; and improving the efficiency and reducing the impact of urban freight distribution through the use of zero-emission vehicles.
