Cu-cut!, a weekly magazine providing humour and political satire, is one of the greatest publications Catalan journalism has ever produced. Founded by the cartoonist Gaietà Cornet - the man who created the popular image of a peasant wearing a barretina (traditional Catalan wooly hat) that came to represent the magazine - it offered a portrait of the social and political realities of the time. Junceda created a huge number of humorous cartoons (1,318) for Cu-cut! and this latest volume features 379 of them, corresponding to the years 1910, 1911 and 1912. The journalist and art critic Josep Maria Cadena supplies the technical details and historical contexts behind each of them, in a book that combines the beauty of their artwork, the humour of their jokes and the background to their era, a hundred years ago.
