This book proposes to go back in time, to the democratic
elections of 1979, to recover the memory of the pioneering childhood and youth
policies that were carried out in Barcelona. The first democratic city council created the Youth Area, a new department from
which a series of services and initiatives of great relevance were promoted
during the following decade (1979-1989), unthinkable only a few years before,
for the youth sectors and the city as a whole.
