The agreement with the Fundació Ramon Martí i Bonet facilitates access to ocular revisions, treatment and ophthalmological interventions at reduced prices for vulnerable people through the “Vision for all” project. The municipal contribution is 45,000 euros and the project allows social services to refer people to the foundation who need ophthalmological assistance and can’t cover the cost of treatment.

The support includes an ophthalmological revision and consultations with the foundation, the corresponding diagnosis where necessary, prescriptions and the provision of corrective glasses. In cases where optical material is needed, a contribution of 25 euros per person is established, with exemption for people who can’t afford this.

The new agreement simplifies the function of the previous agreement and has significantly increased referrals from municipal social services. Since March, with the previous agreement, nearly 2,000 people were referred to the Fundació Ramon Martí i Bonet, with glasses provided in 1,142 cases by the end of November.

Anybody wishing to request this help should contact their local social services centre, which will assess the procedure to refer them to the programme.
