Barcelona City Council

The Barcelona City of Literature programme is launching a selection process to award a maximum of twenty prizes to writers of any nationality with a fiction writing project (poetry, prose) or non-fiction project (essay or chronicle) relating to the city of Barcelona in a broad sense. Balance of genres and languages will be considered in the awarding of these prizes.

Authors of literary works, writers, poets, translators and journalists over the age of 18 and with at least one publication under their name and a corresponding ISBN are eligible to become beneficiaries of these prizes.

With the exception of natural persons, all others are obliged to submit the application form, together with the rest of the documentation required, via the Barcelona City of Literature website. In the exceptional case of submitting an application in person, without prejudice to Article 16 of Act 39/2015, of 1 October, on the Common Administrative Procedure of the Public Administrations, these documents may be submitted at any district general registry offices, municipal manager’s offices, or municipal institutes.

Entry period: 24 January to 13 February 2023 (inclusive).
