Barcelona City Council

These grants are for the purposes of carrying out work to control and care for the population of cats living in Barcelona’s streets and, at the same time, of:

• Fostering control of cat colonies to prevent the exponential growth of this population.
• Promoting a census and the identification of colonies to estimate their population densities and establish points for urgent, priority and necessary action to control new colonies and incorporations into those already established.
• Promoting and fostering health in public areas.
• Promoting good practices and the principles of responsible ownership.

Projects that are eligible for grants will have to control and look after cat population through sterilisation, under the CSR method (capture, sterilisation and return).

The application-submission period is for 20 working days, starting from the day after the date of publication of the call in the in the Official Barcelona Province Gazette (BOPB), that is, from 10 January to 6 February 2023, first and last dates included.
