The purpose of these grants is to control and look after Barcelona’s feral cat population as well as to:

• Encourage the control of cat colonies and thereby prevent the exponential growth of this population.
• Promote a census and identification of colonies to estimate their population densities and establish points for urgent, priority and necessary action to control new colonies and incorporations into those already established.
  • Encourage and foster healthy conditions in public areas.
  • Disseminate good practices and responsible-ownership principles.

Projects that are eligible for grants will have to control and look after the feral cat population through sterilisation according to the CSR method (capture, sterilisation and return).

The application period will be for 20 working days, from 10 January to 4 February 2022, first and last days included.
