Barcelona City Council

The purpose of this call is to regulate the Barcelona Institute of Culture's awarding of subsidies for funding projects aimed at “renovating, modernising and providing technical equipment for private spaces for cultural creation, experimentation and dissemination, bookshops and cinemas that carry out their activities in Barcelona”.

These subsidies are available to natural or legal persons responsible for managing the beneficiary spaces of these subsidies, with the corresponding operating licence (corresponding activity permit or opening communication), where appropriate (excluding the cases stated in the call). Each applicant may submit only one subsidy application for each space they are responsible for, except for bookshops, which may submit a category C application and a category D application.

• Category A. Independent, privately owned, artistic and cultural creation, experimentation and exhibition spaces.
• Category B. Live culture spaces, small format, local spaces with a social-coordination role, with a capacity for under 150 individuals, which carry out a regular cultural programme.
• Category C. Bookshops.
• Category D. Bookshops and publishers. For purchasing own-display materials for sale outside, to replace the materials ruined during Diada de Sant Jordi / St George's Day 2022.
• Category E. Cinema halls with seven or fewer exhibition halls.

Legal persons, under Article 14 of Act 39/2015, of 1 October, on the common administrative procedure for public authorities, must fill in and submit their applications through Barcelona City Council’s Online Procedures Office  [Es]. Under Article 14.1 of Act 39/2015, of 1 October, natural persons may apply remotely, through Barcelona City Council’s Online Procedures Office or face to face, having requested an appointment with a Citizen Help and Information Office (OAC)  [Es] or with the Citizen Culture Office (OCCU)   [Es].
