“Crear (a) la fàbrica del comú” at La Escocesa
A collective reflection on the current situation of the creation factories
La Escocesa has organised a series of meetings on 12, 23 and 24 May to facilitate collective reflection on the management model of the art factories, with particular focus on La Escocesa. The case of this former textile factory from Poblenou, which emerged from a private initiative and has been redirected towards becoming a common resource, will be used as a case study to inspire debate about culture management models.¡
The scheduled activities will begin on Saturday 12 May with a “Moment de Memòria” (“Moment of Memory”), a gathering that aims to revisit memories of the factory. It will be attended by resident artists who were once at La Escocesa, former employees of the factory, historians and residents of Poblenou. This activity is open to all audiences and will run for the entire day.
Wednesday 23 and Thursday 24 May will be devoted to debating the management models of the art factories through talks and round tables. Guest speakers will include artists, art professionals and representatives from spaces like Can Batlló, Can Felipa and La Escocesa.
Crear (a) la fàbrica del comú will run all day on Saturday 12 May, and from 17:00 on Wednesday 23 and Thursday 24 May. For more information about timetables and activities, please visit the La Escocesa website.
