Barcelona Poetry Festival (Barcelona Poesia)
Fabra i Coats is among the diverse spaces hosting events.
From 10-16 May the 21st edition of the Barcelona Poetry Festival takes place. Over this week various spaces in the city will become the stage for verses from a large number of poets from Catalonia and beyond, such as Josep Pedrals, Josep Piera, Antònia Vicens, Raúl Zurita, Sasha Dugdale and Mircea Cărtărescu. Venues including the Fort Pienc and Guinardó – Mercè Rodoreda Libraries, the La Pedrera Auditorium, the Palau de la Música Catalana, Plaça Virreina, Plaça de la Catedral and Plaça Sant Felip Neri will all host poetry recitals, tributes and dialogues with other artistic disciplines.
Fabra i Coats – Arts Factory is also one of the festival hubs. On Tuesday, 15 May at 8:30 p.m it is the venue for T’estimaré sempre (que pugui) (I’ll always love you (as long as I can)), a recital that considers questions around the theme of contemporary love. "How is love written today?" From differing perspectives and various preoccupations, this question will invite responses from Biel Mesquida, Ben Brooks, Erika Martínez, Ángelo Néstore and Maria Isern. Music improvised by Blood Quartet, with trumpeter Mark Cunningham and the members of Murnau B, will accompany the poets’ lines.
Barcelona Poesia takes place from 10-16 May. All information about the festival can be found here.
