Boombeta 2018
From 2-19 July, El Graner is presenting a cycle of peformance art shows in the La Marina area.

Boombeta is one of El Graner’s Applied Living Arts (Arts Vives Aplicades) projects operating at local level which aims to close the gap between popular and experimental artforms. The cycle offers and embraces bold experiences for the residents of La Marina, in which they can be members of the audience or active participants. With Boombeta, El Graner is creating an ecosystem based around ‘art and community’ and ‘art and education’ in the surrounding local area.
This year’s cycle dovetails with Barcelona’s Festival Grec and features various performances. The "Vida Laboral" (“Work Life”) workshop will take place at El Graner from 2-16 July, led by dancer, choreographer and teacher Claudia Faci who reflects on the role of our professions and trades for society at large. There will be a presentation of the performance piece emerging from the workshop on 17 and 18 July at 7 pm. Also on Tuesday, 17 July, at the Jardins dels Drets Humans (Human Rights Gardens), the ‘site-specific’ "Llicó d'economia" (“Economics Lesson”) will be performed by artists Jorge Dutor and Guillem Mont de Palol, Los Torreznos and Societat Doctor Alonso. In another development, Radio Nikosia, one of the first radio stations made up of individuals diagnosed with mental health problems, will dedicate their programmes transmitted on Wednesdays 11 and 18 July, from 4 pm onwards, to the process of creation at the "Vida Laboral" workshop. Lastly, on Thursday 19 July, El Graner will host the "Art and Community" day, from 10 am to 5 pm. This will be a series of talks and presentations focusing attention on artistic work in a context of hospital service, specifically the field of mental health.
Boombeta 2018 will take place from 2-19 July at El Graner and the Jardins dels Drets Humans (next to the creation centre). All events and activities are free, though prior registration is required at info@granerbcn.cat. For more information, please consult the following link.
