Throughout the months of April and July, Hangar will be hosting the Rarefacció season which welcomes a selection of artists working with audio from an evolutionary, analytical perspective. On the one hand, their research allows them to theorise and be critics of contemporary creation; on the other, it is a contribution to rethinking the much misunderstood label ‘Sound Art’ and reclaim their task as an artistic creation that is just as legitimate as other expressions such as text or painting.

Rarefacció is a project led by Sergi Botella and is included in Hangar’s Àudio Formal programme, a platform for experimentation and education around music and sound.
