Care Commission
The Care Commission is a shared working space among Barcelona’s Fàbriques de Creació, created with the aim of placing care at the centre of institutional, artistic and community practices. It stems from the collective will to address labour, emotional and structural relationships from a critical, transformative and situated perspective that promotes respect, trust and shared responsibility.
The commission promotes joint actions and collective learning processes to review working dynamics, create support tools and establish useful protocols adapted to the realities of each factory and community. Within this framework, meetings, materials, resources and discussion spaces are developed to strengthen an institutional culture based on care and mutual support.
The (a)tensions 2025 conference took place over two working sessions with the participation of resident artists and teams from the Fàbriques de Creació. It was conceived as a shared space to initiate collective reflection and propose new approaches to institutional management, labour relations and spaces of coexistence.
The proposal revolved around key questions to review, among other aspects, the existence and use of protocols, codes of conduct, reporting mechanisms, evaluation systems and support resources. The outcome of this process is a detailed compilation of the current status of each factory in these areas, along with a collective overview of gaps, challenges, good practices and shared concerns.
The conference resulted in a graphic presentation by Alba Feito, and the design of postcards and posters by Albert Folch.
The (a)tensions program is an initiative of the Care Commission of the Fàbriques de Creació network, and has been designed and coordinated by the Larre collective.
Participating factories: Sala Beckett, Hangar, Centre de les Arts Lliures – Fundació Joan Brossa, Ateneu Popular 9 Barris, Fabra i Coats: Fàbrica de Creació, Graner, Tantarantana, Nau Ivanow, La Central del Circ, La Escocesa and La Caldera.
