Study Grant for Production of Arts Projects (Bilbao)

15 September, 2018 - 00:01 to 31 October, 2018 - 23:59

FUNDACIÓN BILBAO ARTE FUNDAZIOA grant in collaboration with the FUNDACIÓN BILBAO BIZKAIA KUTXA BBK.

Bearing in mind the characteristics of the Fundación Bilbao Arte Fundazioa (its technical installations and professional team), the aptitude of proposed projects for making considerable and extensive use of the technical and professional resources and possibilities offered by Bilbao Arte needs to be stressed.

In this sense, presented projects that prove a need to work at the Fundación with maximum usage of the technical equipment and the advice and collaboration of the Fundación’s technicians will have priority over other projects where the artist does not need to use either the installation of the professional team of the Fundació Bilbao Arte.

Consequently, these Active Residency grants will particularly value projects that are submitted with a documented work plan that envisages continuous use of New Technologies, Media Lab, Sculpture and Printing and Engraving workshops.

Application Deadline

Endowments and Allowances

A minimum of twelve grants will be awarded. The grant holders will have access to a study and receive a financial endowment to cover production costs of up to 4 000 Euros for annual projects and up to 2 000 Euros for projects carried out over one semester.

Conditions

These grants provide economic support and the use of a Temporary Assignment Space at the Fundación Bilbao Arte Fundazioa.

Grants with an assignment space authorise not only the use of these spaces but also the possibility of gaining access to the rest of the infrastructures that the Centre has in its different production workshops.

Bilbao Arte, as well as enabling the use of all of its installations (consult the equipment website), offers an advice service via its Workshop Tutors who will deal with and support any technical requirements that might arise.

Obligations of the grant holders (individuals or organisations):

1. Comply with the operating regulations of Bilbao Arte

2. Make sure their usual address during the grant period is in Bilbao or the surrounding area.

3. Develop their project and interact with the various tutors and advisors that the Fundación puts at their disposal to support their work.

4. Submit a final report of their residency and offer, in return for financial support received, a substantial piece from their created work which will form part of the public collection of the Fundació Bilbao Arte. They will also commit to taking part in scheduled events connected to the Open Doors Days (joint exhibitions, project presentation/display etc.).

5. If their residence is related to the production of an audio-visual work, the name of Bilbao Arte must feature in the credits.

6. Accept the conditions of use of the work spaces and equipment belonging to Bilbao Arte.

Assistance with Accommodation:

The Fundación Bilbao Arte Fundazioa is establishing the possibility of applying for a maximum of 7 accommodation-residency grants in an apartment shared by artists working at the Fundació.

Accommodation and running costs (insurance, water, lighting, gas, Wi-Fi...), estimated at 200 euros per month, can be deducted from the grant amount received.

This cost must be factored in to the budget of material requirements to be included in the grant request. In the grant applications reasons for needing to apply for accommodation must be outlined in an added appendix.

The award of a grant does not imply the right to receive this type of accommodation since its availability will necessarily be contingent on variable levels of demand for it. The Fundación will assess reasons for its requirement and distance when choosing candidates.
