Crea't – Arts Residency at the Can Castelló Civic Centre

The Can Castelló Civic Centre has opened, to last throughout the year, its call for applicants for its three-month residency for collective or individual creation projects in diverse arts disciplines.

Multidisciplinary (visual and stage arts, small scale musical and literary art forms...)

Target Candidate

This open call is aimed at creators aged 18 and over to support individual or collective arts initiatives in a diversity of disciplines such as stage and dramatic arts, dance and small scale musicals. This includes projects in non-conventional venues and short-length shows, whether amateur or semi-professional, aimed at both an adult and family audience.

Length of Residency

Three months

Conditions

  • 3 months rehearsal in the Civic Centre’s available spaces.
  • Show premiere at the Civic Centre.
  • Free performance, no earnings or percentage of door takings.
  • Technical support during the process and final performance.
  • Dissemination of the show through the usual channel of the Civic Centre (flyers, internet, posters...).

 

All companies submitting applications to the open call must commit to carrying out their project and premiering it under the same conditions in which it has been submitted. If this is not the case or if the project is not completed on time, the company or group will have to compensate the Cultural Centre for the rehearsals carried out and the failure to honour their commitments.

The Civic Centre’s programme scheduling team will make contact by email with the individuals, groups and companies that have applied to take part in the ACTUA.

Assessment Criteria

The application will be assessed according to whether:

  • The proposed project-work concept is of original creation and unpublished/unperformed.
  • The technical aspect of the show is compatible with the space and equipment of the venue where the performance will be staged.
  • The rehearsal timetable is compatible with the availability of spaces in the Centre.
  • The company has its own technical team.

 

Proposals with racist, sexist and homophobic content or content that undermines human rights will be excluded from consideration.

Application Submission

To apply for these spaces, please send a dossier with the following information:

  • The technical specifications which can be downloaded from the open call website according to the relevant discipline.
  • work timetable fitting within three months, together with requirements for hours and spaces (types of room, needs regarding rehearsals, etc.)
  • cv for the company and/or its component members if appropriate.
  • Material related to previous creations if deemed necessary as reference material.
  • Any other important consideration that should be highlighted.

 

Dossiers must be sent in pdf or .doc format to: info@cccancastello.cat with, in the message heading, an indication of the concept “CREA’T” + name of creator(s) and/or company.
