A Bookish Christmas
Stories, workshops, cinema, and more at Barcelona’s libraries.
If you have a little free time this Christmas, it’s the perfect opportunity to catch up on your reading or enjoy some of the treasures held by Barcelona’s libraries. During the holiday season, they host a wide range of activities, with a special focus on young visitors: you can watch a film, listen to a story, or even learn to code. These activities run until 5 January.
There are options for all tastes, including live performances such as La cabra Serafina, presented on 17 December at Biblioteca Barceloneta – La Fraternitat, which is an “illustrated live story” by Blai Senabre, or Cel amunt, by Ada Cusidó (Biblioteca Ignasi Iglésias – Can Fabra; 20 December). Many libraries host story sessions, such as El tió congelat by Enric Hugas Batlle and Keke Shuga (Biblioteca Sant Antoni – Joan Oliver; 22 December), while others, like Biblioteca Ignasi Iglésias – Can Fabra, organize teddy bear parties with reading recommendations included.
Libraries such as Montserrat Abelló, Jaume Fuster, and Biblioteca Nou Barris – Aurora Díaz Plaja, among others, are screening selected films from Verdi Cinemas aimed at children, including Mia and the White Lion and Central Park Heroes, among others.
For children aged 9 to 13 who want to make the most of their holiday learning, there are two sessions of the Code Club Nadal programming workshop on 19 and 20 December at Biblioteca Montserrat Abelló. This extracurricular activity in technology and coding is organized by Alejandra Neri.
