The last Biennial 2064 had a profound effect on the art world. The triumph of The App was first questioned when the first cracks of the curatorial and expository model of decentralized algorithmic structure were revealed. In that edition, the curatorial selection and design system made the first self-criticism of its own work and suggested the need to recover some artistic practices related to certain local fabrics of creation and political resistance (what Ángela Novo calls “discards”) that had been an inspiration for the art system from the 2030s onwards.

It could be said that that small wound, mentioned as a mere anecdote by the curatorial system, brought out the gloomy existence of certain methodologies of historiographical work that had gone unnoticed and that articulate a counter-model that allows new maps and narratives to be drawn up regarding the artistic-cultural singularities of that period. Several initiatives arose with the intention of analysing the creative processes obscured by the techno-curatorial system, thus recovering divergent proposals in areas that are communicatively obscured or located on the margins of the disciplined machinery of art. The analysis of these projects and works, of their configuration and their exhibitory policies, as well as the recovery of some important “discards”, constitute the central thread of these talks.

These talks are a preview of the exhibition of the same name, currently in production, which will be held in 2022 in Bòlit, Girona, and La Virreina Centre de la Imatge, Barcelona.

The talk will be given by R. Albalat, A. fito Rodríguez and J.L. Marzo, members of the Ángela Novo collective.
