Fairs. Once again this year, Barcelona City Council is setting up a Sant Jordi stand to showcase new publications, offering them for sale with a 10% discount.
For Sant Jordi 2023, the Literary Superblock between Diagonal, Gran Via and the streets of Balmes and Pau Claris is back, with two new features: the return to La Rambla and the inclusion of Gran de Gràcia between the Salvador Espriu gardens and Travessera de Gràcia.
The biggest literary festival on the calendar is here. On Sant Jordi’s Day, Barcelona’s Literary Superblock will be right at the heart of the celebrations.
Publications from Barcelona City Council’s Serveis Editorials will have a double marquee on Passeig de Gràcia, between C. Còrsega and C. Rosselló, very close to La Pedrera. You’ll find around a hundred titles published in recent years, and above all, the new publications released in recent months – we’ve made a selection of these for you that you can see on the Sant Jordi website. And there’s a 10% discount on all of them. The fair will be open from 9 am to 9 pm.
The Sala Ciutat bookshop (C. Ciutat, 2) will also be open from 10 am to 8 pm, offering the corresponding 10% discount.
Barcelona made book
Another classic of the festival is the Sant Jordi poster, which recreates an imagined Barcelona based on the pages of a book that opens up to invite the locals to visit all its tucked away places. This year’s poster is a photo of a handmade three-dimensional figure in paper created by artist María Laura Benavente in collaboration with Arauna Studio, which was responsible for composition, colour and typography.
You can pick up copies of the poster from the Sala Ciutat, on the Sant Jordi stand of the City Council’s Serveis Editorials or at the Palau de la Virreina, while stocks last. They can also be downloaded from the web repository.
