03/03/2023 - 11:30

Books. Barcelona City Council publishes ‘Survey Barcelona. A photographic look at the city’s transformations, 2015-2023’.

The publication is divided into two volumes which complement each other and offer a complete and coherent vision of the main projects and architectural and planning changes applied in recent years in the city of Barcelona.

The project is divided into two volumes. Volum I: Mirades, with text by Xavier Matilla Ayala, chief architect with Barcelona City Council. Through more than 600 photos and based on themed criteria, ten photographers have captured the changes which Barcelona has gone through in recent years to create a set of images offering a combined vision of the evolution of the city.

Volum II: Projectes, with texts by Adrià Goula, architect, photographer and coordinator of the work, and Valentín Roma, artistic director at La Virreina Centre de la Imatge. The second volume offers a vision of the main projects rolled out in the city, such as the superblocks, major streets, more greenery, play opportunities in the city, schools, improvements to neighbourhoods, reactivation of economic networks, sustainable mobility, facilities and housing. The work also transcribes a conversation between Eva Franch, Margarita Jover, Carme Pinós and Janet Sanz about the challenges currently facing Barcelona and how urban renewal should be approached.

The photos in the two volumes are by Milena Villalba, Andrés Flajszer, Pedro Pegenaute, Aitor Estévez, Jon Tugores, Xavi Bou, Joan Diví, Adrià Goula, Maite Caramés, Pol Viladoms and Simona Rota.
