Sketching book. Through each sketcher's individual style, using ink, pencil, or watercolours, these urban cartoonists capture the city in action and transfer it to their sketchbooks.

The Barcelona City Council and Urban Sketchers Barcelona have published the book 'Dibuixem Barcelona. De la muntanya al mar/Drawing Barcelona. From the Mountain to the Sea', a way of discovering Barcelona through the eyes of more than a hundred sketchers in a collection of 185 drawings about the city's 10 districts. It is a one-of-a-kind guidebook for strolling around the city of Barcelona, published in both Catalan and English.

Discover Barcelona through the eyes of more than a hundred sketchers! Through each sketcher’s individual style, using ink, pencil, or watercolours, these urban cartoonists capture the city in action and transfer it to their sketchbooks.

The routes they trace from the mountains to the sea pass through iconic, unique, and everyday places. Immerse yourself in a Barcelona that is as diverse as the eyes that observe it. This volume invites you to take a tour of the city through 185 illustrations by 130 artists about the city’s 10 districts.

The production of this book has been made possible thanks to the contributions by the members of the Urban Sketchers (USk) Barcelona association, who use drawing as a tool of expression and communication. Their drawings capture a city that is deeply inspiring for artists, and their way of communicating has become recognised worldwide.

The Urban Sketchers defend their programme of action through a manifesto translated into over twelve languages:

1) We draw on location, indoors or out, capturing what we see from direct observation.

2) Our drawings tell the story of our surroundings, the places we live and where we travel.

3) Our drawings are a record of time and place.

4) We are truthful to the scenes we witness.

5) We use any kind of media and cherish our individual styles.

6) We support each other and draw together.

7) We share our drawings online.

8) We show the world, one drawing at a time.

The Barcelona City Council also supports this initiative with the “Travel Diary” book collection, which includes more than thirty travel sketchbooks drawn right on the city’s streets. The collection’s catalogue includes artists who shed light on each of the city’s neighbourhoods.
