Sustainability and the reduction of tourism seasonality are two key focus areas of B-Travel 2025, the Tourism Fair organised by Fira de Barcelona and sponsored by Barcelona City Council. “This year, we’re promoting sustainability with specific measures at the trade fair and with several conferences in this field, such as the B-Smart Travel Conference, which will unveil the Ten Rules for Responsible Travel,” says B-Travel director Marta Serra. “This guide was produced in collaboration with Biosphere with the support of the Barcelona Provincial Council and aims to encourage eco-friendly behaviour.”

This year’s edition is expected to attract over 25,000 visitors, with more than 120 direct exhibitors and 600 indirect exhibitors. The B-Travel fair not only presents what the tourism sector has to offer, but also inspires a great travel experience. For example, it features a culinary journey that is particularly special this year, with Catalonia being the World Region of Gastronomy.

“This culinary journey can be experienced through the B-Delicius Fest, where visitors can enjoy 18 tastings of dishes from across Catalonia, such as Delta rice, veal from the Catalan Pyrenees, and Vilanova prawns,” says Serra. “There will also be a food showcase featuring products from across Spain and the rest of the world.”

New destinations

International destinations will be represented by 40 travel agencies and destinations such as Pyrénées Audoises, the region of Naples and the island of Madeira will be participating in the fair for the first time. “At the local level, the tourism boards of Catalonia’s four provinces will be taking part: Costa Brava Pirineu de Girona, Costa Daurada and Terres de l’Ebre, Terres de Lleida, and Barcelona, represented by Turisme de Barcelona and the Barcelona Provincial Council,” says Serra.

A wide range of professional activities

As well as being a key event for the travelling public, B-Travel organises activities for professionals in the sector, including talks, seminars, forums, and more. “There will be Job Marketplace areas, organised by Barcelona Activa, a space for networking and job hunting in the sector,” says Serra. “And alongside B-Travel, there will also be a new edition of ACAVe Travel Market, a workshop organised by the Corporate Association of Specialised Travel Agencies (ACAve), where destinations taking part in the fair will present their tourism initiatives to more than 100 travel agents.”
