Community and governance

With the National Commitment to Responsible Tourism as a starting point, and in collaboration with the Government of Catalonia, the aim is to improve the management of the local community and promote effective governance of the visitor economy. 

The National Commitment to Responsible Tourism in Catalonia is a benchmark for tourism governance in Europe. This agreement, endorsed by the World Tourism Organization, strives for a more inclusive and sustainable tourism that prioritises the well-being of local residents. It is an example of how different regions are working to ensure that tourism is part of the solution to global challenges.

The aim is to improve the management of the local community and promote effective governance of the visitor economy. Through this commitment, initiatives will be  launched to ensure a form of tourism that respects the environment, local cultures and the needs of local residents.
