Subsidies to digitalise the private sector of the visitor economy
Thanks to the Next Generation funds, a call for subsidies has been launched by Barcelona City Council and managed by the Directorate of Tourism, aimed at accelerating the transformation and digitalisation of the private sector that makes up the visitor economy in the city of Barcelona.
This call for subsidies complements the project “Digitalisation of the tourism management and promotion of destination Barcelona” by effectively involving the private sector in the tourism digitalisation process.
Its objectives are as follows:
- Reinforcing the coordination and role of tourism entities in the visitor economy.
- Transforming the tourism economy through public-private collaboration in the promotion and management of tourism in Barcelona.
- Consolidating digital actions that require technical and financial investments to implement innovations in the tourism system.
- Promote the growth of tourism businesses in Barcelona using new technologies.
- Enable interconnection between tourism businesses and other economic sectors by creating collaboration networks.
- Promote innovation projects that enhance visitor services and the coexistence of tourism activity with city life.
Innovation is key to business growth, as it increases margins, satisfies customers and promotes new business opportunities.
This line of subsidies aims to support innovative projects in digitalisation and tourism management to strengthen the sector. Potential beneficiaries include business associations within Barcelona’s tourism sector, such as hotels, travel agencies, tour guides, MICE, transportation, retail, hospitality and the cultural sector.
