Election results in Sants
The new Councillor’s Office for Decentralisation and Citizen Participation, led by Jordi Vallverdú, was in charge of boosting the municipal districts and establishing closer links between citizens and the local administration.
The election results in District VII, encompassing the Sants, Hostafrancs and La Bordeta neighbourhoods, saw the PSC get the most votes (36%), followed by the PSUC (20.4%) and CiU (18.4 %). Behind them came CC-UCD (13%) and ERC (7.1%). With this electoral coalition, the District VII Municipal Council was formed on 10 September 1979 by 5 PSC councillors, 3 PSUC, 3 CiU, 2 CC-UCD, 1 ERC and, thanks to the PSC giving up a seat, the Bloc de l’Esquerra Catalana also had 1 councillor.
The position of Council chair fell to Pau Cernuda, but only briefly until March 1980, when he was replaced by Enric Truñó. Later, Jacint Humet took over, and he would hold the post for longer.
