Tina Vallès
Tina Vallès (Barcelona, 1976) is a philologist who works as a writer, editor, translator and proofreader. In 2017 she won the Llibres Anagrama Prize for the novel The Memory of the Tree, which also earned the Maria Àngels Anglada Prize (2018), the Jean Monnet des Jeunes Européens Prize (2020), was shortlisted for the Mandarache Prize (2020) and has been translated into nineteen languages: ‘Tina Vallès writes while photographing what mortals do not notice. She experiences a reality that, in its purity, seems unreal.’ (Anna Carreras, Time Out). She is the author of the short story collections L’aeroplà del Raval (The Raval’s Aeroplane) (2006), Un altre got d’absenta (Another Glass of Absinthe) (2012) and El parèntesi més llarg (The Longest Parenthesis) (2013), which won the Mercè Rodoreda Prize, and the novels Mister Palomar in Barcelona (Anagrama, 2021) and Maic, her first novel, now reissued in the Compactes series. In late 2020 she won the Folch i Torres Prize for the novel Els pòstits del senyor Nohisoc (Mr Nohisoc’s Post‑its). She has since published Mira (2021), La primera ostra (The First Oyster) (2023) and Sant Jordi de cap per avall (Saint George Upside Down) (2024). She is co-editor of the short story portal Paper de vidre, writes articles for Vilaweb and is one of the hosts of the podcast Poc cas.
