Visual Arts

The visual arts programme offers the guest of honour the opportunity to present exhibitions in different languages and formats: paintings, sculpture, photography, installations, video art and other hybrid practices.

These displays can be seen at two cultural venues of reference in the city: the Museum of the Arts of the University of Guadalajara (MUSA) and the Cabañas Museum. These exhibitions will be in the city for a few months so that the local public can enjoy them.

Barcelona has decided to present two original exhibitions and also chosen two that already existed. The originals are based on the idea of return to the city: just as we “export” talent during the nine days of FIL, we also want to create something new that can be seen afterwards in Barcelona. Therefore, the exhibition “Los libros de Barcelona” [Books of Barcelona] about editorial design and “Vendrán las mujeres” [The women will come] on the relationship of women writers in Barcelona with the public space, are intended to be displayed in Barcelona once they have completed their stay in Guadalajara.

The Cabosanroque trilogy, three independent installations on the figures of Mercè Rodoreda, Joan Brossa and Jacint Verdaguer, has already been on display in Barcelona, where it was very well received. Its undeniable value interacts with the literary programme that we present. Finally, there will be an exhibition to bring Barcelona's digital art talent to the MUSA.
