Xavi Torrent
Xavier Torrent, born in Mataró in 1972, studied interior design at the Elisava school, where he specialised in pop-up installations; he then furthered his training as an assistant to set designer Joaquim Roy. In 2004, he was involved in producing the Universal Forum of Cultures and then began working in the architecture department at MACBA. He currently contributes to the technical production of exhibitions such as those of Francis Alÿs, Ignasi Aballí, ‘A Theatre without Theatre’ project, Cildo Meireles, Stanley Brown, Latifa Echakhch and ‘Are You Ready for TV?’ project, as well as travelling shows such as Carlos Pazos’s ‘Don’t Tell Me Anything’ at the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía and the Collection at the Frankfurter Kunstverein.
Since 2009, he has been working with art centres including Bòlit, La Panera, the Museu de Valls, Fabra i Coats and CA Tarragona designing exhibitions such as ‘The Late Estate of Broomberg & Chanarin’, ‘It Happens Every Day’ by Jordi Mitjà, ‘Like a Little Water in the Palm of the Hand’ by Mireia Sallarès, ‘An Exhibition to Look At’ by Enric Farrés, ‘Manoeuvre’ by Perejaume, ‘Design for Life’ by Oscar Guayabero, ‘Order’ by the Democracia collective and ‘Periphery of the Night’ by Apichatpong Weerasethakul, curated by Joana Hurtado.
