In 2026, Barcelona will be the UNESCO World Capital of Architecture and will host the UIA World Congress of Architects, thirty years on from the memorable UIA 1996 congress. Over time, architecture publishing houses, both historical and contemporary, have played a key role in raising the city’s international profile.
Architecture publishing has helped share essential Spanish-language works, establish a shared culture and build bridges for exchanges between Barcelona and Latin America. The city is currently seeing a publishing boom in this field, with over twenty active imprints devoted to architecture.
This session, moderated by architect, writer and professor Zaida Muxí, will bring together Mexican architecture publishers Miquel Adrià and Arabella González alongside Barcelona-based architects and architecture publishing houses.
