Before Prudenci Bertrana and Víctor Català, before Joana Raspall, Mercè Rodoreda and Pere Calders, and well before Quim Monzó, Sergi Pàmies and Empar Moliner, Catalan literature had a rich tradition of short stories. Throughout history, this genre has offered authors a way to openly experiment with the narrative, a technique often seen as alluding to absolute creative freedom. Barcelona has seen the emergence of great short story writers such as Carlota Gurt, Pablo Martín Sánchez and Irene Pujadas, who will pay tribute to the genre and its unique literary and writing aspects.
