Noir fiction has been captivating readers for decades, carving niches and winning ever wider audiences. It is undoubtedly one of the most versatile genres and one that has conquered the most ground. In Carlos Zanón's work, it is practically a cornerstone and a way of taking a literary stroll through his city, Barcelona. Zanón was also chosen to continue Vázquez Montalbán's Carvalho detective saga and directs BCNegra, Barcelona's leading crime fiction festival. Acclaimed writer Clara Usón plunges in the genre in her latest novel, Las Fieras, set during the most violent years of terrorism in Spain, for which she won the Dashiell Hammett Prize at the Semana Negra de Gijón. Both authors will discuss the genre, its twists and turns, its defining features and its narrative possibilities.
