The right to language entails recognising all languages equally, without hierarchies. The Living Languages programme (organised by PEN International in conjunction with five centres in Latin America) is showing how to revitalise and redefine them in the world. Within the context of the emergency caused by the accelerated disappearance of languages, PEN International is defending linguistic rights, and PEN Català is promoting an integrative, collective new Universal Declaration for 2028 based on the book El dret a la llengua [The Right to Language].
