According to the Catalan writer Maria Carme Roca, a leading author of the Catalan historical novel, ‘We are a country with little historical knowledge.’ Perhaps that is why she has cultivated the genre, to reveal historical figures closely linked to Barcelona, such as Clotilde Cerdà. The writer Núria Cadenes has also cultivated the genre, at times through chronicles and activism. Both authors will discuss the value of focusing on specific historical figures, their choices, and the relationships they have maintained with their characters. Their conversation will undoubtedly highlight the importance of the past, of historical memory, and its influence on the present.
