Quality and price: 95% of people take these factors into consideration when shopping
Nearly 95% of consumers in Barcelona admit that the criteria they take into consideration the most when choosing a product are quality and price. The information comes from the Barcelona Municipal Omnibus Survey, which can be found at the Barcelona Observatory for Commerce and Restaurants.
The main criteria relating to products purchased are quality (95.7%) and price (92.3%). The criteria people take into account to a lesser extent are that the product is eco-friendly (51.6%) and available for purchase via internet (32.3%). The figures are from the middle of 2022 and show that although the effects of the pandemic were still being felt, product quality remained stable while prices and offers took on greater importance. In contrast, all other criteria became less important.
Other values that stand out include the product being on offer (73%), being locally sourced (72%) and being associated with social commitment (59%). Full information can be found in this report. The Barcelona Observatory for Commerce and Restaurants also includes many other reports with sectoral data.
