This year commemorates the 50th anniversary of Pablo Picasso's death and the 60th anniversary of the Picasso Museum Foundation. To mark these two anniversaries, Barcelona’s local commerce has prepared a programme of activities that are open to everyone and revolve around art and commerce.

Led by Barcelona City Council’s Directorate for Commerce, Restaurants and Consumer Affairs, this initiative aims to continue showcasing the city's commerce and culture, two areas that share values such as diversity, quality and originality.

The activities, which include the participation of associations and commercial hubs in the city, are part of the actions that the Picasso Museum organizes throughout the year with the collaboration of other institutions and entities in the city, and which can be consulted here.

From 10 to 20 November | Art Infiltrats

Using our social media profiles, we’ll be looking to encourage people in La Barceloneta to discover their neighbourhood and commerce through different styles of contemporary art. Technology will be a great ally to make this possible.

There will be an online competition, via the ACIB Barceloneta's profiles on Instagram and Facebook.

The game is to picture what Barcelona local commerce would look like through the eyes of different contemporary art styles. With the aid of technology, the organisation will post photographs of local establishments on its social media accounts, edited to make them look like paintings. People will have to work out which shop the picture represents. The winners will receive prizes linked to art.

Date: From 10 to 20 November 2023

Place: Online activity, on ACIB social media profiles

Organisation: ACIB Barceloneta

From 5 December to 8 January | Christmas lights illuminate local commerce

The aim of the project is to shine a light on the city's creative talent, create a link between the design and retail sectors and make design accessible to the general public.

The initiative seeks to get traditional local shops to see design as an ally in bringing innovation to their businesses. The essential idea is that the Christmas lights will go beyond the streets to add a sparkle to shop windows and become a key part of the window display design project.
