The City Council launches a new guide on gluten-free restaurants certified by the Coeliacs Association

SENSE GLUTEN, a new guide on restaurants that follow the gluten-free restaurant and catering guidelines put together by the Catalan Coeliacs Association's technical team, was officially presented on 26 November. The certification ensures that all the meals prepared in the kitchens of the restaurants that appear in the guide are entirely suitable for coeliacs. It was published on the initiative of the Barcelona Restaurateurs' Guild and Barcelona City Council and enjoys the support and technical reviews of the Catalan Coeliacs Association.

The SENSE GLUTEN guide features 41 restaurants (some of which have several premises) throughout the city and reflects the diversity and quality of Barcelona's food.

The Barcelona Restaurateurs Guild first published the SENSE GLUTEN restaurants guide in 2010 and it was well received by the public. A second edition was published the following year under the supervision of the Catalan Coeliacs Association. But the new guide represents a qualitative leap forward compared to the earlier ones as it is the first time a guide has been published exclusively with restaurants that have been awarded a Coeliacs Association seal.

In addition, the new guide includes brief descriptions of the restaurants (in Catalan, Spanish and English), that can help readers to choose the one best suited to them, with colour photos and useful information (such as whether the restaurant has a midday menu).

This first edition has a print run of 10,000 copies. Anyone who wants to, whether or not they are coeliacs, can get hold of a free copy at the 41 participating restaurants, at municipal Citizen Help and Information Offices (OACs), at the Restaurateurs Guild's head office in Eixample Esquerre and at the Catalan Coeliacs Association's head office.
