What is the Observatory of Commerce and Restaurants?
The Barcelona Observatory of Commerce and Restaurants (OLAPB) aims to be a point of inspiration for the transformation of the city, businesses, and people, seeking to identify challenges that will help define new projects and business models.
To do this, it strives to be a tool for monitoring the reality and competitiveness of commerce in Barcelona, and it also seeks to inspire, acting as an Observatory for forecasting and analysing future trends.
As an Observatory of competitiveness, it provides information that helps develop both public and private sector strategies and projects for boosting competitiveness; it provides knowledge to aid the decision-making processes of different local agents and provides access to open-source data for developing new business opportunities.
The Observatory works with its own and external data from which it generates socio-economic indicators on different issues for the whole city of Barcelona. In addition to socio-economic indicators, the Observatory produces some periodic and non-periodic products, offering bespoke studies and a service for consulting the census map of ground-floor economic activities in the city.
