Advisory Council on Artificial Intelligence
The Advisory Council on Artificial Intelligence, Ethics and Digital Rights aims to advise the City Council on the use of AI for the common good and to propose initiatives and projects with a view to making Barcelona a leading city in technological humanism.
Els quinze membres que l’integren són persones expertes i independents d’àmplia trajectòria en l’àmbit acadèmic, tant de disciplines científiques i tecnològiques com del camp de les ciències socials i les humanitats, i amb experiència prèvia relacionada amb l’ètica de la intel·ligència artificial.
The fifteen members on the Council are independent experts with a long career in the academic field, not just in scientific and technological disciplines but also in social sciences and the humanities, and with prior experience in the ethics of artificial intelligence.
The responsibilities of the Advisory Council on Artificial Intelligence are as follows:
- To advise the government team in the use of AI for the common good, with a broad and comprehensive view.
- To conduct algorithmic-impact studies on high-risk algorithmic systems that are intended to be developed or put out to tender.
- To promote collaboration with universities, teaching centres, research centres, companies, foundations and public and private institutions linked to AI and its ethical dimensions.
- To propose initiatives and projects with the aim of making Barcelona a leading city in technological humanism and proposing innovative public policies for ensuring citizens’ digital rights.
- To assess the development of the Municipal Algorithms and Data Strategy for an Ethical Promotion of Artificial Intelligence and propose improvements for achieving goals and carrying out its initiatives.
- To promote discussion and knowledge of the impact of AI on our society, connecting the academic world, institutions and city residents.
