We are committed to using AI as a tool for improving public services and an opportunity for being more effective and efficient in resolving challenges and managing the City Council’s public policies.

This is why we drafted the Government Measure for a Municipal Algorithms and Data Strategy for an Ethical Promotion of Artificial Intelligence, which aims to set out the mechanisms for governing and promoting AI so that it respects citizens' digital rights. AI systems are not without technological risks. The gathering and processing of data which the algorithmic decisions are based on are not always respectful of citizens' right to privacy, which is why the City Council intends to set out these minimum standards to ensure a development of artificial intelligence and emerging technologies that respect the principles of technological humanism, digital rights and the promotion of democratic technologies.

Advisory Council on Artificial Intelligence

The Advisory Council on Artificial Intelligence, Ethics and Digital Rights aims to advise the City Council on the use of AI for the common good and to propose initiatives and projects with a view to making Barcelona a leading city in technological humanism.
