Barcelona City Council

The Bookmark Award falls within the “Commerce and Schools" educational programme, promoted by the Directorate for Commerce, Restaurant Trade and Consumer Affairs at Barcelona City Council. The award recognises the best drawings by pupils from schools taking part in the activity, the main theme being local commerce explained through visual arts. The winning drawings will be published in the form of a bookmark and distributed around shops and businesses in the city on Sant Jordi’s Day. 

Any student from infant, primary and secondary schools or post-compulsory education centres in the city of Barcelona may enter. Each class can select up to four drawings to be entered in the competition. Illustrations must be on a template provided by the organisers. Drawings produced on other media can be stuck in the area marked out on the template. Drawings will be classified into the following seven categories: 

       I.     Second cycle of infant education

      II.     Initial cycle of primary education

    III.     Middle cycle of primary education

    IV.     Upper cycle of primary education

     V.     First and second year of secondary education

    VI.     Third and fourth year of secondary education, baccalaureate and vocational training

  VII.     Special education 

The original works for the bookmarks will be collected from schools by the organisers, who will contact teaching staff in advance to arrange this. Each bookmark entered into the competition must be identified with the name of the author to facilitate the handling of all the material. 

Winners and finalists will all receive a diploma and a gift. 

Entry period: 17 January to 16 February (inclusive).
