Barcelona City Council

Barcelona City Council, through the Barcelona Institute of Culture, has announced subsidies to support creation, called the “Barcelona Crea” grants.

The aim of these grants is to keep driving culture and science in the city by offering resources for carrying out artistic research and innovation.

The 2025 edition of the “Barcelona Crea” grants are aimed at supporting the pre-production processes involved in the creation of artistic initiatives (conceptualisation, gestation, research, experimentation, documentation, writing and rehearsal, etc.) in the categories of literature, music, audiovisual content, script writing, traditional culture, performing arts, visual arts, community creativity and arts in health, as well as initiatives that link art and science.

A total of 124 grants will be awarded in the 2025 edition, each worth 6,000 euros.  

Applicants may be either natural or legal persons. 

Applicants must be at least 18 years old. The calendar year in which the call for applications is published will be used as the reference year.

Legal persons must be legally constituted.

In the categories F.1., “Montserrat Roig Literary Creation”, and F2., “Carme Montoriol Dramaturgy Creation”, only physical persons may apply. 

The procedure for awarding grants is by open competition, with the corresponding approval and publication of the call for applications, as stipulated in Article 22 of the General Act 38/2003 on grants.

In order to ensure that these grants can reach as many people as possible, each person or organisation applying for these grants can only present a single application for a single category. 

In this sense, consideration will be given to the natural or legal person applying. If more than one application is received from the same person, only the first one registered will be accepted.

Application period: from February 27 to March 21, 2025.
