Competitive call for grants to carry out the tasks of controlling and managing the population of urban cat colonies.

The main objective of the projects to be funded must be to control and take care of the feral cat population by means of sterilisation following the CSR (capture, sterilisation, return) method and the identification of colonies (location coordinates, number of individuals, sex ratio, etc.). At the same time, the aim is to:

  • Foster control of cat colonies to prevent the exponential growth of this population.
  • Promote a census and the identification of colonies to estimate their population densities and establish points for urgent, priority and necessary action to control new colonies and incorporations into those already established.
  • Promote and foster health in public areas.
  • Promote good practices and the principles of responsible ownership.

Projects eligible for funding must meet at least the following requirements:

  • That the objectives and aims of the project coincide with those established in the call for proposals.
  • That the activities to be carried out complement municipal competence.
  • That the project and the activities deriving from it are carried out in the Barcelona municipality.
  • That the activities carried out are not for profit.
  • That the programmed activities will end on 31 December 2024.

That the grants are compatible with any other grant awarded by other administrations or public or private bodies and with municipal grants awarded for other programmes.
