Barcelona City Council is launching these special subsidies to foster the reactivation of the economy, assisting with investments costs by the city’s local economic network, including shops, services, bars and restaurants, night-life venues and tourist accommodation. The subsidies are aimed at businesses in ground floor premises or giving onto the street, to help with costs resulting from the effects of restrictions on opening and capacities, or having to adapt because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Investment costs which may be covered by the subsidies include those aimed at “reactivating economic activity at the establishment” with better conditions in terms of health, sustainability, energy efficiency, digitalisation and accessibility. Costs for which subsidy applications are made must be for investments made in the period between the start of the state or emergency, on 14 March 2020, and 31 December 2021 (inclusive).

The procedure for awarding subsidies will be conducted on a non-competitive basis and the selection will be made according to the established requisites and criteria, by chronological order of the receipt of applications, until the budget is used up.

Those awarded subsidies must justify the application of the funds received by supplying the invoice/s or the expenditure budgets made or planned, which must accompany the application. Where budgets are provided at the time the application is made, the corresponding invoices must then be provided before 31 March 2022.

For cases where the space assigned for stating investment expenses (point 3 of the declaration application form) is insufficient, you will need to attach the “Annexe to Point 3 (list of expenses)” document to the application.

The application period is open from 12 to 30 July, both dates inclusive.

Given the extension to the application period approved by the Government Commission on 29 July 2021, the new period established is from 12 July to 9 September 2021 (first and last days included).
