Community artistic creation at the 2020 Biennial of Thought
Three creation factories are holding days of reflection on territory, communities and artistic practices
The second edition of the Biennial of Thought is being held from 13 to 18 October. This year, the focus is on future challenges and on all the phenomena we are witnessing that show we are facing a change of era.
The Ateneu Popular 9 Barris, the Central del Circ and the Graner are taking part in the Biennial by organising days of reflection on the subjects of territory, communities and artistic practices. They will be held from 16 to 18 October, with one day at each of the creation factories.
The Central del Circ will be working on the idea of territory the Ateneu Popular 9 Barris, on community and the Graner, on artistic practices. The idea is to create a glossary around these terms, with the aim of opening up a new field for joint reflection when developing community artistic projects, by taking an in-depth look at the inherent difficulties, the methodologies used and how to tackle the question of itinerancy.
These sessions want to establish common ground between artistic theory and practice, based on talks that propose reflections and images that are then discussed in various groups.
The first day of reflection, at the Central del Circ on Friday 16 October, will be presented by Eva Marxen, with an introduction on community creation in relation to territories. There will then be a space for reflection through dance, with Constanza Brncic, through visual arts, with Ro Caminal, and through circus, with Jorge Albuerne.
The session at the Ateneu Popular 9 Barris, on Saturday 17 October, will consist of a first group where Rocío Manzano, from Nus Cooperativa, will work on power relationships, using the body; the second group will be run by Lali Àlvarez and will deal with political bodies, through itinerant work in public spaces, and lastly, Mariló Fernàndez from LaFundició, will use images and graphic representations to speak about usurped cultures.
The third and final session, on 18 October at the Graner, will consist of roundtables on “Live Art”, featuring Nyamnyam and Imma Solé; “Expanded Stage” with Dianelis Diéguez, Aurora Bauzà and Pere Jou, and “Relational Practices”, run by Roger Bernat.
