Poblenou’s Art Factory is hosting a series of five round tables organised by resident artist Juan David Galindo, under the title Altiplans. De sobremesa: Internet 3.0. De la utopía a la distopía. This project is funded by one of the Artistic Research and Experimentation grants that La Escocesa allocated in 2017. Each of these meetings will feature a different speaker and will be a space devoted to imagination, artistic creation and the exchange of theory. The aim of this proposal is to: “Analyse, rebuild, redesign, rearticulate, re-edit and, of course, destroy the concept of the mobile phone.” In the first phase of talks, the proposed topic is the effect that these devices have on people’s lives, which will then allow us to propose new dynamics, in a subsequent phase, which will alter the relationship we currently have with the device.

The series opened on 11 April with a talk from Enric Puig Punyet entitled La subjetivación del internet 3.0. The next talk, on Wednesday 18 April, will be delivered by Arnau Monteverde, who will explore the role of the internet and social media in political and social movements. On 25 April, Paula García-Masedo and Andrea González will discuss the values that new technologies introduce into society and the new uses they give to spaces. The session on 2 May, when Roc Parés will assume speaking duties, will revolve around the use of technology in the service of the common good. The series will come to an end on 9 May with Roger Bernat, who will provide a reflection on the society of the spectacle and the technological mechanisms that are applied to the behaviour, conformism and choreography of audiences.

De sobremesa: Internet 3.0. De la utopía a la distopía is part of the Altiplans series, which sees La Escocesa Art Factory (Pere IV, 345) opening its doors to the public every Wednesday at 19:00. Entry is free of charge.
