New Carme Montoriol Playwriting Grants
The prizewinners will be given a work space in an Arts Factory.
The Institut de Cultura de Barcelona (ICUB), as part of the UNESCO Barcelona City of Literature programme, is launching a new grant application call aimed exclusively at dramatic writers. The Carme Montoriol grants, named in memory of the Barcelonan playwright, translator and poet, will provide a total amount of 12 000 Euros to be divided between four creative writers who will be given a space to work on a project in any language over a period of two months in four theatres from the Arts Factory network: Escenari Joan Brossa, Nau Ivanow, Sala Beckett and Teatre Tantarantana. Candidates must have had at least one play performed to be eligible for the grant.
The new bursaries for theatre writing join the Montserrat Roig grants which this year reach their third season. These are financial aids for writing projects from any literary genre (narrative, poetry, essays, chronicles, memoirs, etc.) aimed at writers from any language who have published a minimum of one book. These grants also involve a financial endowment of 3 000 Euros to work for two monthis in a private space within one of the city’s cultural organisations.
Applications for both the Carme Montoriol and Montserrat Roig grants must be submitted before 21 December 2018 at 2pm. For more information about the competition and application submission please consult the following link or the Carme Montoriol grants and the Montserrat Roig grants.
